About Us

Who we are: The people behind Adventure Happy are Dani and Evan (and Cosley the Adventure Dog) Mostly on video you will see Evan, where as on here and on Instagram is mostly Dani (I apologize for any bad grammar or misused punctuation in advance). We live in Edmonton AB but feel most at home in the mountains, wherever those mountains may be. Evan grew up in Whitehorse YK, but didn't get into hiking and adventuring until rather recently. I grew up in Calgary and moved here for University and while I saw mountains regularly as a kid, I didn't truly start to see their magic until about 2014 (okay - you guessed it, we started at the same time...). In fact we really didn't start getting into this until we decided we wanted to try our hands at hiking the Chilkoot Trail - a 53km hike from Skagway Alaska to Bennet BC. We bought our permits and our gear and then realized we needed to learn how to use it (and how to condition our legs to move us and our packs that far). But what I didn't expect was that I would be immediately hooked. I quickly discovered that the trees and the rivers and the peaks of the mountains had something to teach me, and that they would show us if we just let them.

What we are trying to do: We want to bring you along with us for the journey. I have learned so much from other Instagram accounts and YouTubers that I want to share what we see and what we have learned. This part of the world that we are exploring is incredibly beautiful, and if we can inspire one person to go out and see it, well then it's worth all of the work. Plus, I'm not going to lie, having a first hand video memory of  our adventures is also a perk.

What to expect: Some hiking videos. Possibly some review videos of our gear. Possibly some tested recipes on this page with our dehydrator as I venture to make more of our own backcountry food. Eventually we would like to get into some Climbing videos, winter trips and quite possibly some other random adventures. The Instagram account will have some images of our adventures and is a good snapshot of the Canadian Rockies and Alberta. And lastly this blog. On here you should find our GPS data of our hikes along with some written information about each trip that we may or may not have discussed in the videos if you want some more details. Feel free to also venture over to our Gear page to find out what we use. We will try and include some more reviews on the gear that we have used and abused.  

What we ask of you the viewer/reader: Please be kind - we are mere mortals. This is our hobby, and we are still learning as well. However feedback, comments, questions and suggestions are all welcomed. We want to help anyone who's interested and want to grow our own knowledge and experience. So we ask you to come along for the ride - follow us on Instagram at @adventure.happy, on YouTube under the username Adventure.Happy, and possibly listen to what I have to say as I ramble on through this website.
